Insanity Is Training at Home-Kettlebells in Richmond
And with the internet everything becomes easier. Shopping, spying, flirting and getting in shape.
I mean why go to the gym. Why go and seek a qualified trainer (and I use that lightly as my belief that most trainers nowadays are far from qualified. But I am trying to make a different point here) Why should you talk to them. Explain why you are there and what you are looking for. Ask them questions about themselves. Tell them about you. About your current diet, work/life ratio. Sleeping patterns or even have them asses your movement patterns. Let them see how you move even before you are put under physical stress.
WHAT IS THE POINT OF GOING TO ALL THAT EFFORT WHEN YOU CAN JUST BUY A DVD OR EVEN DOWNLOAD A PROGRAM OFF SOMEONES WEBSITE.
We have all seen the informercial in the early hours of the morning promoting THAT workout DVD. The one that its owner even tells you.
IF YOU NEED TO SEND THIS BACK, YOUR OBVIOUSLY NOT READY FOR IT.
WOW what a claim to make. What a way to shatter someones hopes (for whatever reason they bought it in the first place).
Let me explain my issues. The body is more complex that you can EVER imagine. Not just fat/fat loss/muscle gain. But movement wise. How many of you have in the past pulled a muscle, twisted an ankle and got a sore back or shoulder. These things need to be looked at and addressed before you are even told to….. STAND BY….GO by the man on the DVD telling you to go harder/faster/meaner than you are ready for. And lets not forget the Ebooklet saying
GO DO 3×15 SQUATS FOLLOWED BY DEADLIFTS FOLLOWED BY SQUAT FOLLOWED BY ROMANIAN DEADLIFTS LEG CURLS FOLLOWED BY PROTIIIEEEENNNNNN.
Wait a second though, how does the Ebook know my body stats and how much weight I put on the barbell. HOLD ON, how can the Ebook even tell if I am doing my deadliest correctly. Can it see if my knees collapse in, if my hips rise before the lift or if my lats and core or tight enough.
And don’t get me started on the health and fitness magazines teaching you how to swing the kettlebell in 5 easy steps and photos.
HOW CAN IT DO THIS?……WELL IT CANT AND NEITHER CAN THE DVD. Now I know there needs to be an element of personal responsibility here but most people don’t know where they should look or are even convinced by the glittery lights. What they don’t realise is what they need first is a lifestyle and movement assessment. For example Gray Cooks FMS (Functional Movement Screen-used by the NFL, USMC, Navy Seals, Orange county fire department and many top high school and collage football teams) a system designed to outline physical limitations, asymmetries and irregular movement patters. These are the things can be a huge difference in achieving your goals and reducing the risk of injury.
Once the FMS is done, any areas needing attention is looked at then solid work can begin in you training with Kettlebells in Richmond or any other sort of training for your personal reasons.
But it is important to take measures to make sure everything goes to plan. And making the choice to see a FMS professional is by far the first and best choice you can make. A close second is Kettlebells in Richmond and London.
If you are interested in having a FMS screen then do get in touch to arrange a consultation and screen.
